Open Heavens Daily Devotional, 17th June, Wednesday 2020 Topic

Today’s topic in the RCCG’s Open Heaven is Spiritual Intimacy and is written by Pastor E.A Adeboye.

Memorise: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

Today’s Bible Verses: Acts 2:41-47
41. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44. And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45. And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47. Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

OPEN HEAVENS FOR TODAY 17TH JUNE 2020 – SPIRITUAL INTIMACY

Knowing God is not the same as going to church or even being born again. The knowledge of God is first made evident through love.

If you love God, it will show in the way you live and even interact with others. God is calling us into an intimate relationship with Him which is preceded by growing in the knowledge of Him.

If your life is in disagreement with God’s word, no matter how much you participate in Church activities or give offerings to God, you would not be acceptable to Him, and your services would be in vain.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus made himself of no reputation, took upon him the form of a servant, humbled himself, and became obedient unto death Philippians 2:58”

1 John 2:6 also says that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Jesus Himself enjoins us to follow His example in all things. An intimate relationship with Jesus would lead to selflessness, humility, service to humanity, and total obedience to God. When you live according to the standard of God, He will be pleased with all you have to offer.

Do you know that you can come before God with generous offerings, yet stir up His anger? This is because the offering of an unrepentant sinner is an abomination before God (Proverbs 15:8).

An intimate relationship with God would help you fashion your life very closely after the example of our Lord Jesus in all things.

The knowledge of God must bring us to the point of wisdom and enlightenment far beyond the ordinary. Above all, the knowledge of Jesus must lead to overflowing joy and peace. I pray that your knowledge of Jesus will grow greatly this season in the mighty name of Jesus.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY PRAYER POINT Today June 17th

Father, please help me to grow in intimacy with You, in the mighty name of Jesus.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 27-2

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL HYMN

What a Friend we have in Jesus
1. What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear-
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
