Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church (LFC), aka Winners’ Chapel on Sunday, taught about the benefits of fasting and prayers as the church begins its 2021 fasting.
During the service held at the Canaanland headquarters of the LFC on January 3rd, and broadcast both on Domi YouTube channel and other platforms, Bishop Oyedepo, noted that fasting and prayers is the key to opening many doors.
He urged the congregants to approach the Winners’ Chapel 2021 21 days fasting and prayer with a sense of mission, and clear off anything that would not let their prayers go through.
According to him, the congregants should set their prayers in order as the yearly fasting programme starts.

It is starting on Monday, January 4th and ends on the 24th of the month.

BENEFITS OF FASTING
- Empowerment into next levels: we all know that empowerment is in levels (Ezekiel 47:1-5). The anointing is in levels and what fasting does is to move us into next levels. These 21 days of prayers will move you to next levels of empowerment.
Jesus was anointed without measure (John 3:34)
They didn’t say, “why don’t you (Jesus) fast?”
Why do you not your disciples fast? The Anointing came without measure.
It’s about next levels of empowerment. It takes the longing of the flesh to access the next levels of empowerment (Luke 11:13, Psalm 63:1-3).
It takes fasting to experience the next level of empowerment. Therefore, fasting is primarily for our empowerment.
- Destruction of Yokes which includes generational curses, spells and enchantments, addictions and all oppressions of the devil (Isaiah 58:6)
- Access to outbreak of revelation: Next to salvation, our greatest asset in the Kingdom is revelation. Salvation rescues us from perishing; spiritual ignorance also results in perishing (Hosea 4:6, Isaiah 5:13, John 3:16).
Salvation is to rescue us from perishing and revelation also sets us free from captivity (Isaiah 58:6,8).
Outbreak of revelation (Isaiah 60:1)
Do you know why we fast? The prince of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not (2 Corinthians 4:4).
– Some are yet to see their right to divine health. They keep suffering under the affliction of sickness and disease.
– Some have not seen their place in prosperity, so they keep struggling for survival, the enemy doesn’t want them to see it.
3 days of prayers and fasting opened my eyes to God’s prosperity agenda: March 22nd 1982.
Encounters are not stories, they stay with you, they stick with you. Paul didn’t have to cram the date that Jesus met him.
‘My son David, my prosperity is not a promise, so it does not answer to prayers.
My prosperity plan is not a promise, it has no respect for fasting.
My prosperity is a covenant, until your path is played, I am not committed.”
It’s the strongest message of my life on prosperity: it came from the mouth of God after a 3-day prayer and fasting:
o I have never begged!
o I have never visited anybody’s house in my life, “can you help this ministry?”
o I got the key.
– Many keys will be delivered to you during this fast.
From the day I got it, no admonition for tithes, no encouragement for giving. I’ve gone bonkers with it. You can’t hear from God and doubt Him.
– You will hear from Him this time: concerning your health, you will hear from God; concerning your family, you will hear from God; concerning your children, you will hear from God; concerning your career, you will hear from God.
I was in a fast with my team, we were on the mat. Those fasting days were very interesting and we were in prayers. I was looking at scriptures, suddenly Psalm chapter 34 verse 5 exploded.
“My son, you have 2 eyes. Can you make one to look up and the one to look down?
Any time you are looking unto man, never claim to be looking to Me. If you fix your eyes on Me, you’ll never be ashamed”
I am also a man, so I must look at me or look at you but fix my eyes on God. Those who look to the Sun don’t see the shadows.
From that time on, I lost relevance as far as God’s agenda is concerned. I don’t look at what I have, it’s irrelevant, He gave it to me, so He has what He needs for His job.

While others are just busy looking for the land. It won’t stop one day.
September 6th 1983: You have 2 eyes – it was a laboratory experience.
You will hear from Heaven on every subject matter of interest this time.
We were there seeking the Lord for His Kingdom: “This Ministry is here now, Jesus what else do we need in the pursuit of this…” and then that Word came.
Isaiah 60:1-3, 8, 22
- Speedy restoration of our health and vitality (Isaiah 58:8, Matthew 13:27-28)
Outbreak of revelation, speedy restoration of health: they just follow through one another. God cleared HIV/AIDS from the testimony you heard through the 21 days of prayers and fasting. He will clear every rubbish off your body.
Some of these enemies will not go except by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). Fasting brings you into outbreak of revelation that clears your system from all rubbish (Job 33:21-25).
While we are praying Kingdom Advancement prayers, also pick those areas of concern in your life and make a project of them in the course of these prayers and fasting.
‘Enough is Enough’: there is no opposition from hell that will ever require more than faith, prayer and fasting to surrender. The most wicked resistance from hell will bow to the authority of faith coupled with prayer and fasting.
– Your victory has finally come.
– I’ve done a bit of marketing on the benefits of fasting and without charge. I think you should pay for that. I’ve done some marketing and I think it’s good marketing; it’s the Truth, it lives and abides forever.
– Nobody is cajoling you, you are not fasting for me, I’m not fasting for you: You are fasting for YOU.
Speedy restoration is your experience.
– By the end of the first week, no debris will remain in your body.
- Access to next levels of sanctification (1 Corinthians 6:11; Romans 8:13)
Fasting leads to outbreak of revelation, outbreak of restoration of health and outbreak of righteousness. – – Everybody’s taste for ungodliness will be laid finally to rest.
– Every contention of hell against your desire to please God will be laid to rest finally.
– Every habit that disqualifies one from making heaven will be destroyed in everyone’s life.
Joshua the high priest was clothed with a filthy garment, he didn’t go to buy it, the devil forced it on him. Satan standing on his right to resist him (Zechariah 3:1-3)
There are forces of hell that wants you to miss heaven and miss the best of God for you on the earth. What you do is to engage the force of prayers and fasting to say NO!!!
That’s why that person will be delivered of 25 years of hard drugs like a dream of the night. It’s your turn!!!
Whenever sin gives way, the glory of the Lord comes over.
– You will not see shame anymore.
- Express answers to prayers (Isaiah 58:6,9; Ezra 8:21-23)
Don’t approach this religiously, approach this fasting and prayer with a sense of mission.
That will be your experience this time.
I’ll like us to be genuinely prepared, to take delivery of the benefits of prayers and fasting in these 21 days.
Prepare yourself to take full delivery of the benefits of fasting in the next 21 days, in the name of Jesus Christ.
– While you are yet speaking, God will be answering.
- Access to Divine guidance (Isaiah 58:11)
You are in a fast, you are entitled to the continuous guidance of the Lord.
- It facilitates access to the realms of supernatural breakthroughs (Isaiah 58:12)
– God will change your story. The kind of breakthrough you have never read in your life will come to pass in your life.
– The kind of breakthrough testimonies you’ve never heard of in your life, will come from you, in the name of Jesus Christ and so shall it be in Jesus precious name.
HOLY COMMUNION
1 Kings 19:7-8
– As you take this bread and this drink, you will go through these 21 days without any hitches.
– It will be your most pleasurable fasting expenditure till date.
– Your fervency on the prayer altar will never drop.
– Your searching of scriptures for answers to bugging questions will be on the increase.
– Every day will appear to be too short to be a day.
– You will hear from God clearly, much more than ever before in your life.
– The response to your prayers will not be theoretical, it will be real.
In one of those fasting expenditure, the Lord spoke to me, “stand up and follow me” and I did; He unveiled to me a 4-fold agenda for sustainable, unending Church growth. You will meet with God.
“Father, thank You for the encounter of today. We believe to go in the strength of this meat, the next 21 days, in the name of Jesus. Grace for each one to make the most of this season, let it be released right now in Jesus name.”
Again, it’s our 40th year in this Ministry and prophetically you are entering into your Promised Land.
*God has ordained your access into your Promised Land this year.
All the children who were born on their journey to the promised land from 20 years and below, they entered with them.
– It doesn’t matter what time you came, because you are part of this family now, you are entering into your promised land.
– It’s a good land: a land flowing with milk and honey. A land where you shall not lack anything, a land which the Lord cares for from the beginning of the year till the end of the year.
But this is built on 2 conditions: no matter how smart you are as a sportsman, if you don’t understand the rules of the game, you’ll never come back with the prize.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAXIMIZE THIS PROMISED LAND?

Love the Lord your God
And
Serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul
As you keep that law, no force can stop you from enjoying the milk of the land.
